Khang Residency is blessed by one of the most revered and oldest Buddhist monasteries. Perched on a ridge, the revered Changangkha Lhakhang is the oldest monastery in Thimphu. The fortress-like temple was built by Lama Phajo Drukgom Shigpo who came to Bhutan from Ralung in Tibet in the 12th century.
